Offline defrag my Exchange 2003 database
This weekend I had to schedule a maintenance window. Our Exchange database needed an offline defrag. MY approach went fine, it shrinked from 63GB to 41GB, which is a saving of about 30%. Althought Microsoft claims a defragmentation rate of about 4-6GB per hour, mine was a little bit lower. It took me about 25 hours to defrag the .edb & .stm.
I´m glad I could remove some of the junk, as I forced my users to delete old E-Mails and all those Funmails.
In June I will move ahead to Exchange 2010….
